Be challenged. Be inspired. Be enriched.

I tell stories. Short ones. More like vignettes. One a week, in video and text. Published every Sunday evening, UK time.

The stories come from things I have lived through, or from something in the news that caught my eye and would not let go.

Then I look for what is underneath. What this small thing tells us about our lives, our relationships, the society we are building.

Sometimes I will challenge you to rethink your priorities. Sometimes I hope to lift you. Always I am after the same thing: not information, but some small insight into how we can live better.

Occasionally I turn to Biblical stories or the Jewish sages. Not to make a religious point. This is neither a religious nor a political series. But when it comes to understanding human beings in all their dimensions, they are an unparalleled and timeless source.

Five minutes. Once a week. That’s all I ask.

Subscribe for free and each new episode arrives in your inbox every Sunday. The full video and the complete text. Nothing else, no clutter.

New here?

The range is wide, and deliberately so. Episodes have begun in a barber’s chair and ended up talking about multiculturalism; taken on the ‘manosphere’ and what we tell young men; asked what you do when life simply is not fair; and looked at what happens when everyone else seems to know who they are and you do not.

A new one arrives every Sunday. The current episode is always front and centre on my home page, and everything published so far sits in the Episode Library.

Who I am

I’m Rabbi Shlomo Levin, Shlomo to everyone.

For forty years I was senior rabbi of a large London community. That meant a graveside on Tuesday and a wedding canopy on Sunday, and in between, a study door that people knocked on when they had run out of anywhere else to go. They came with grief, and with guilt, and with news too good to keep. They asked whether they were doing the right thing, whether to forgive, whether any of it made sense.

I did not always have answers. I still don’t. But I listened for forty years.

I have come away with two convictions: that most people strive to live good lives, and that almost nobody is as alone as they think.

In this series I share what I heard.
